Grieve says "The whole plant abounds in a bright, orange-colored juice, which is emitted freely wherever the stems or leaves are broken." According to Foster and Duke "Fresh stem juice a folk remedy (used externally) for warts, eczema, ringworm, corns." Hutchens says it's "Bodily Influence: Cathartic, Diuretic, Diaphoretic, Expectorant, Purgative, Vulnerary, Alterative." Beyerl notes "There appears to be no Magickal usage ascribed to this herb." Culpeper says "A herb of the Sun and under the celestial lion." and "One of the best cures for the eyes. When the Sun is in Leo and the Moon in Aries make it into an oil or ointment to annoint the eyes with."
